Agebuzz Asks: This Week’s Reader Poll: In response to the August 29th reader poll regarding age discrimination, almost half of all respondents said they were unaware of experiencing age discrimination. Maybe this is a positive sign that ageism is becoming less prevalent in our society! However, several of you relayed stories of being ignored when shopping with a younger person or not being included in conversations when getting together with family members. For those who relayed such stories, it’s clear the sting of rejection or invisibility is hurtful and affects how you, as the recipient of ageism, alter your view of yourself. So consider yourself lucky if you’ve never personally experienced such treatment and be on the lookout for others who may not have been so fortunate and are hurt and suffering as a result.
