Agebuzz Asks: This Week’s Reader Poll: In response to the October 2nd reader poll regarding what “successful aging” means to you, most of you realized that the concept of successful aging involves a number of elements, including your physical and cognitive health, along with your ability to sustain important relationships and engage in meaningful activities into your later years. The original creators of the concept, Drs. John Rowe and Robert Kahn, intended the concept to be multifactorial, and most of you, in your responses, highlighted a number of traits that you felt demonstrated that you are aging "successfully". Several of you expressed gratitude for your level of independence and continued active lifestyle despite your advanced age, while others mentioned that while they themselves were aging successfully, their partners were not. While agebuzz readers are a self-selected group of older adults, we hope that some of the insights and information we are sharing helps contribute to your health, well-being, and success as you get older!
