This Week’s Reader Poll: In response to the July 10th reader poll regarding helpful services you would like in your community, almost ¼ of respondents wished they had more opportunities in their community to meet other older adults. Another ¼ of you responded that you would welcome several additional services, especially more transportation options. It seems that better transportation options and additional financial support or free opportunities would be welcome and appreciated. Many of you also mentioned that living in the community means you need help with home maintenance or support in attending the activities you’d like to participate in.

While we cannot promise that these services will now magically appear, we want to make sure that all of you are aware of the Village to Village network, which may have a chapter in your community. Through this network, older adults in the community set up groups that support each other with advice, recommendations, help, transportation, social activities, and other services that enhance the quality of their lives. Not every community has this type of organization, and if yours does not, you may want to start a local chapter, but you can find out if one exists in your area by clicking here!
