This Week’s Reader Poll: In response to the January 30th reader poll regarding “What’s Your Most Vivid Memory From Childhood?” the largest percentage of respondents commented on their discovery of books as a young person and the joy they experienced (and still experience) when reading. Several of you mentioned the excitement that reading brought into your lives, with exposure to faraway places and the insights and entertainment you experienced through books. Many commented on how they have tried to pass on that love of reading to younger generations. Other popular responses touched on family vacations or relationships with beloved friends or parents. Many of you described cherished family time that still lives within you as warm memories. One thing became clear from all of your responses: It’s so important to create relationships, experiences, and opportunities for young people that they can carry with them as loving memories throughout their lives.
