This Week’s Reader Poll: In response to the July 31st reader poll regarding your feelings of being “old,” about half of you pointed to several factors that led you to think of yourself as “old,” including skin beginning to show wrinkles, and people in your life passing away. Several of you mentioned milestones that led you to feel this way, such as your own adult children becoming seniors themselves or when those you used to babysit now have children and grandchildren of their own! But many of you also pushed back against the idea of feeling old, explaining that instead, you consider yourself a wise elder or just ‘seasoned.” And many of you commented that inside, you feel much younger, even as young as you used to feel in your 40s. That feeling of being younger is often referred to as your “subjective” age, which is a positive mindset that can help support you as you get older. Find out more about how feeling younger is helpful for healthier aging by reading here.
