As a caregiver for her husband with dementia, Myrna Marofsky spent more than five years as his loving companion and care partner. She found resources to help her understand and respond to his dementia, but little guidance on balancing caregiving with her own needs.
Her new guide, CareLiving, offers hope, support, and reassurance to others facing a similar journey. It reminds caregivers that they are not alone—and that what they are doing is extraordinary. Co-written with dementia and memory-care expert Joshua Wert, this compassionate guide is a resource to turn to when support is needed most. Its five-star reviews reflect just how valuable it has been to caregivers.

This Week’s Reader Poll Results: Thank you to everyone who responded to our August 13th poll about the one item in your estate that you hope your heirs hold onto. A little more than ⅓ of survey respondents voiced the hope that heirs at least hold on to family photos. The remaining responses were spread over other categories, including precious family items (many previously handed down to their current owners) or original artwork, often painted by someone in the family. Many of you who left comments echoed the sentiment shared by one respondent, “They can have what they want, and with what’s left, I hope they donate it to a worthwhile charity.” Some recognized that heirs may have different tastes or little interest in what remains. Others of you said you had little to physically pass on, but hoped that your heirs hold onto the good memories shared within the family. Several of you noted you have no heirs (we hear you on that, and will follow up with future posts on that topic!) and a few mentioned that they have yet to discuss their desires about holding onto possessions (but know they need to talk about it!). Hopefully, this survey will spur you on to have these discussions so that hopes and desires are clear before an estate gets passed down to the next generation.

“In the middle of the night, things well up from the past that are not always cause for rejoicing — the unsolved, the painful encounters, the mistakes, the reasons for shame or woe. But all, good or bad, give me food for thought, food to grow on.”
May Sarton, 20th-century Belgian and American novelist, poet, and memoirist
